Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect in the App

The App does not require an account or sign-in, and it never asks for your name, email address or other contact details.

• Learning progress. Your progress, scores and settings are stored only on your device. We do not receive them, and uninstalling the App deletes them.
• Usage analytics. The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to record how it is used: screens viewed; practice sessions started and completed, with the collection, level and score; and purchase events (paywall viewed, purchase started, purchased and restored). With these events, Firebase receives device and app information (such as device model, operating system, app version and language) and a Firebase app instance ID, a random identifier for this installation of the App.
• Purchase information. If you buy the unlock, RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user ID together with your purchase history and store receipts, so the App can confirm and restore what you have unlocked.
• Audio downloads. Audio clips are downloaded from Google Firebase Storage (Google Cloud), which, like any web server, receives standard request data such as your IP address.

The App does not collect your device's advertising ID. Advertising ID collection and ad personalization are turned off in Firebase Analytics, and the Android advertising ID permission is removed from the App. Google processes your IP address to provide these services, for example to estimate your approximate location (country or region).

2. Information we collect on the Website

When you visit tellapart.app, we collect:

• Usage data through Google Analytics 4: pages viewed, interactions such as playing the demo, the referring site, device and browser type, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Google Analytics uses cookies.
• Aggregate visit statistics through Ahrefs Web Analytics, which does not use cookies.
• Standard server logs kept by our hosting provider, Vercel, such as IP address, browser and request time, used for security and reliability.

3. How we use information

• To understand how the Services are used and improve them, for example which collections and levels people find hard.
• To unlock and restore your purchase, and to help with purchase problems.
• To deliver audio and keep the Services working and secure.

We do not show ads, we do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Purchases and payments

TellApart is unlocked with a single one-time purchase, not a subscription. Payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their own terms and privacy policies. Neither we nor the App ever see your card or other payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google.

5. Cookies and your choices

On the Website, Google Analytics sets cookies. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off unless you choose Accept in the cookie banner, and choosing Decline stops analytics on this site. You can change your choice by clearing this site's data in your browser, block cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on.

The App does not use cookies. Uninstalling the App deletes your on-device data, and reinstalling it starts with a new Firebase app instance ID.

6. Service providers

We share information only with providers that help us run the Services:

• Google LLC: Google Analytics for Firebase (App analytics), Firebase Storage and Google Cloud (audio delivery), Google Analytics 4 (Website analytics), and Google Play (Android distribution and payments).
• RevenueCat, Inc.: in-app purchase management.
• Apple Inc.: App Store distribution and payments.
• Ahrefs Pte. Ltd.: cookieless Website analytics.
• Vercel Inc.: Website hosting.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

7. Data retention

Learning progress stays on your device until you delete the App. Google Analytics data from the App and the Website is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to provide and restore your unlock and to meet legal and accounting obligations, unless you ask us to delete them. Request logs are kept by Vercel and Google for limited periods under their own policies.

8. Security

The Services send data over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your learning progress is protected by your device's own security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.

9. International transfers

We are based in Japan, and our providers process data in Japan, the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

10. Your rights and data requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the GDPR (EU and UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California). These can include the right to access or delete your information, to correct it, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

To ask for access to or deletion of your analytics or purchase records, email hello@tellapart.app. Because the App has no accounts, we cannot look you up by name or email address, so tell us your platform (iOS or Android) and, for purchase records, the order ID from your App Store or Google Play receipt. Analytics data is not linked to your identity, so we may not be able to match it to you without an identifier.

11. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top.
